Reflection Post wk 2

Todays post is centered around the last lecture of Carnegie Mellon University professor Randy Pausch. He died of pancreatic cancer, but was still able to accomplish so much in life. When I look at the video to try and figure out how he was so successful, it became so clear and simple to me. His outlook on life was the main reason that he was able to do what he did. When we try to go and achieve a goal that we have set there will without a doubt be challenges that arise on the journey. Something that he mentioned in his lecture were brick wall. Pausch states, "brick walls are there for a reason, they are there to prove how badly we want things." After hearing this I thought to myself how powerful and true of a statement that was. Its important for each and everyone of to dream. Dreams are what built this country into what it is today. Dreams are where your favorite activities and past times come from. Without dreams we really have nothing. One of my childhood dreams was always to earn a college football scholarship. I have been in love with the game for as long as I can remember, but was not permitted to play tackle until i was 11 years old. My family had a lot of financial struggles, so I knew I had to work extra hard to get to where I want to be. The end of my senior season came and I still had no offers. I had been asked to walk on for a couple of schools but no offer. I decided to become proactive and started sending my game film to coaches in the area. I started to get some attention and by the time February rolled around I had 3 offers. I ultimately decided to go on a mission and decided upon returning that football was not the most important thing in my life anymore. Even though I did not get to play, I still accomplished my dream of earning a scholarship for football.
