Reflection Post wk 2

Todays post is centered around the last lecture of Carnegie Mellon University professor Randy Pausch. He died of pancreatic cancer, but was still able to accomplish so much in life. When I look at the video to try and figure out how he was so successful, it became so clear and simple to me. His outlook on life was the main reason that he was able to do what he did. When we try to go and achieve a goal that we have set there will without a doubt be challenges that arise on the journey. Something that he mentioned in his lecture were brick wall. Pausch states, "brick walls are there for a reason, they are there to prove how badly we want things." After hearing this I thought to myself how powerful and true of a statement that was. Its important for each and everyone of to dream. Dreams are what built this country into what it is today. Dreams are where your favorite activities and past times come from. This past week was one that was very interesting in regards to this class. One of the most impressionable things that stood out to me this week came from the video featuring Guy Kawasaki. He shared a simple message of "Do what you love." In the video he used an example about not doing something purely based upon the money. He mentioned this because no matter what happens, you will most likely be miserable doing what you do. When I returned home from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the only thing I could think about were careers that would make me a lot of money. At first I wanted to be a doctor, and then I decided to make a shift towards dentistry. As I was attending classes to help me prepare for these professions, I found my self really disinterested.
